Immortalized by the likes of Kipling, Masters and Orwell, the mystical land of Myanmar, (formally known as Burma) offers the traveler a kaleidoscope of colors and culture that will remain with you for a lifetime. Until recently, much of the country was closed to western tourism. Myanmar stands as one of the world’s newest destinations. The country is known as the Golden Land not only for its glittering Buddhist monuments and rich cultural heritage, but also for the phenomenal natural beauty found in its forests, rivers, green valleys and seacoast. However, it is the inhabitants that give Myanmar its characteristic charm. They have often been described as the most friendly, openhearted people in the world. Unlike other tours in Myanmar, our guides will take you on foot to places not visited by other travelers, allowing you to experience all that this unique country has to offer.
Sri Asia is one of the oldest and most established travel companies in Myanmar. It was founded 25 years ago. Our accumulated experience has stood the test of time. Our aim is rightly said to be:
“To use our accumulated experience to meet and surpass the needs and requirements of our guests via our professionalism determination, energy and attention to detail.”
As a company, we take seriously our role of contributing to the responsible development of tourism in Myanmar. We ensure that all our programs cause minimal environmental impact and that we act respectfully towards the local culture and wherever possible make sure the local community shares in the benefits of tourism. We hire local guides to accompany you; this not only gives our guests a deep insight and connection to the places they visit, but also contributes towards employment and the on going economic benefit to the region.
We also support sustainable development in the more remote areas they you may visit. We do this through direct donation for projects such as, providing solar panels for light and safe water projects. We facilitate any donations from our guests, which go to provide schoolbooks and general supplies for schools that receive little help from the Government.
We have divided out trips into differing categories. There are the Classic Trips, which cover the main centres of the country. We have the Nature and Culture programs that feature itineraries based in lodges and resorts that that are located in established areas but focus on nature. We have our Gems and Battlefield Tours [NEW] that visit areas of the country that only opened to tourism last year. Both trips allow guests to experience unexplored areas where the culture and landscape remain little changed by Western influences.
We are also developing our “Eco Home” project which will feature local homes that have been upgraded to include two twin rooms with an adjacent bathroom and shower. The kitchen will be improved and the family will run the homes. The homes will be located in more remote areas, offering a fascinating insight into the local culture. Projects include the Chin State and will involve the teak forests and Elephant Camps. One Eco Home will be in the gem area where you will be able to pan for your own precious stones and another will be in the Myeik area, on an unspoiled island near a sea gypsy village.
From any of our programs, you can mix and match to suit your requirements. Our staff will be able to assist you with details such as internal flights and hotels bookings once you have chosen where you would like to visit.
We look forward to welcoming you to Myanmar for an unforgettable experience.
